In an interview with Japanese gaming mag Famitsu (via Siliconera), PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan explained that the PS5 development team didn’t have the time to implement backwards compatibility for the older PlayStation systems. However, Ryan did confirm in a separate interview that the PS5 will be able to run 99% of PlayStation 4 games so… there’s that.
