August means the Perseids: the annual shooting star spectacular reaches its peak to wow meteor enthusiasts with abundant bright events, writes Astronomy Now’s Night Sky manager Mark Armstrong.

The Starlink 17-4 mission will add another 24 satellites to the growing megaconstellation in low Earth orbit. SpaceX is targeting the launch of its Falcon 9 rocket from pad 4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base at 8:43 p.m. PDT (11:43 p.m. EDT / 0343 UTC).
