The Pick of the Day is a 1955 Chevy 210 street rod that looks like everything was done right, with great workmanship and tasteful customization.   The overall effect is a classic period cruiser as it might have been done in period.

Bonhams’ “The Golden Age of Motoring Sale” is a London to Brighton Veteran Car Run tradition, and while the coronavirus pandemic canceled the historic drive to the British Channel this year, the sale took place at the auction house’s New Bond Street headquarters.

Supercar records are interesting yet sometimes frustrating. Just when one automaker creates a car that claims the mantle of fastest car in the world, another company somehow releases another one that is faster.

AutoHunter, the ClassicCars.com take on the increasingly popular online collector car auction marketplace, has offered more than 100 vehicles for bidding in the last few weeks, and recently posted its first 6-figure sale, a 1963 Jaguar XKE selling for $131,000.

This past weekend, RM Sotheby’s held a single-consignor auction in Elkhart, Indiana, and sales numbers at this live and online sale were strong, with many of the cars selling for record figures. The auction was no reserve and generated $44,385,420 in commerce.

In post-war America, New York car dealer Max Hoffman served as the first importer of Mercedes-Benz automobiles. But in the late 1950s and early ‘60s, the German automaker was selling its products in the United States through Studebaker-Packard dealerships. That was the situation until 1965, when Mercedes-Benz USA was established. 

The three dazzling Alfa Romeo B.A.T. concept cars from the 1950s, presented at a Sotheby’s contemporary-art auction amidst modern paintings and sculpture, sold as a single lot for $14.84 million (all results include auction fees) during the October 28 sale in New York City. 

“Lingotto Vive & Revive, quand’era una fabbrica” (Lingotto Lives & Relives, When it was a factory) is the theme of an exhibition at the Lingotto Shopping Center in Torino, Italy, where the history of the former Fiat factory with its rooftop test track is being celebrated.
