Is the Paul Klamper mechanical disc brake worth the hype? How does the Growtac Equal compare?

A little over a month ago, I reviewed the Growtac Equal cable-actuated brakes. It wasn’t long after it was published, that the comment section lit up with brake-type allegiance. Readers seemed to be either in favor of, or very much against the cable-actuated disc brake as a whole – with little to no gray area.
